I don't drink.

It's all au naturel. Aided by a little caffeine and good music.

I see you haven't heard the Wilson remixes.

But yes, it stems from my noob period where I felt I had to give different ratings to a band's albums, because some are better than others. Slightly silly, I know, and I am in the process of remedying that with more 5s

'I see you haven't heard the Wilson remixes.'

I have actually, just didn't rate them as I wanted to catalogue the two 'sides' separately (potentially risking Aiwaz's chagrin here, yes I know it was initially intended as one release).

The drum sound was certainly better on this one, it didn't make an enormous difference to me though. This is still the weakest Opeth release outside of the last 2. A few of these riffs completely overstay their welcome.

Damnation didn't even need re-mastering, it was wonderful just the way it was. I didn't really get anything from the experience that wasn't previously apparent from the original mix.

Are you sitting down?

I don't really care about Damnation.

I don't need to sit down, I know... it partially inspired my initial comment.

Agreed, Wilson did a great job on all of Opeth's albums.

I love the high-end on Mikael's growls/screams here. Has an oddly satisfying crisp and evil quality.

Especially the really high raspy ones in Wreath. They basically make the track.

Vocally, Mikael is perfect on this. Especially his cleans.
