Megadeth wouldn't be Megadeth without Dave's vox

Yeah returning to this and I couldn't believe I had it stuck on a 4 since I've been here.
Two plays later 4.5...one more play a 5.
13 year old me was right.

I actually don't even mind Dave's vocals here lol. This is thrash at its best. Absolute riff fest.

Dave actually becomes a technically better singer over time up to Youthanasia/Cryptic but they do suit the early thrash better I think.
I'd probably say they suit this album best, 'So Far So Good' I think you might struggle with a bit, it is a rushed, scrappy and worse produced album.
Rust in Peace is incredible after that but polished and occasionally the Mustaine vocals stand out a bit too much in an uncomfortable way a couple of times...but the album's still a 5 so whatever. Mostly his voice works well on that album too.

Yeah I never have either… idk if I want to tho, Dave is brilliant but man he’s made some fucking dogshit albums. Super Collider is easily the worst “thrash” record to come from the big four

I could just stop at Endgame and pretend Dave called it a day after that

I just did the entire Maiden discog so gonna do the same with Megadeth, even the bad albums lmao. Although I have to say, the only Maiden albums I didn't dig were the two Blaze albums, loved everything else.

Only weak track here is the infamous self title. But we all know that song is iconic and rule lol . But rest of the album was quite untamed and so ferocious. Megadave is Megariff for a reason

man those albums fucking suck. I don’t *love* every Bruce record either, Maiden never really was one of my favorite bands tho
And yeah with this I’m realizing I haven’t listened to anything from Risk to United Abominations… that album title is so Dave lmao, I guess his Alex Jones era really started that early😭

I’ve literally never heard it. Maybe I’ll do just that little run, going thru every ‘deth record just doesn’t sound fun rn
I’m almost positive I’ve heard every album aside from Risk / The World Needs a Hero / The System Has Failed / United Abominations
Gonna have to kill time somehow during commercials tomorrow lol

Hawks all I ask is give Countdown/Youthanasia/Cryptic era some time to warm up on you and similar to me listening to the first two Maiden albums....approach them more as hard rock.
Going back to those albums I think they did the transition to slower tempos, ballads, and a more commercial sound a lot better than Metallica (despite having a less radio agreeable vocalist).
