I recently bought a John Frusciante record which I need to listen to pronto so maybe I'll listen to them both sometime tomorrow.

you both haven't heard Spiderland?

it's very comparable to this in terms of scope and creating a mood
not really sonically similar, though

an absolutely essential record more than it is simply an essential post-rock record
there's a lot there to devour too -- by way of the lyrics (Rime of the Ancient Mariner!!!!!) and by the general aura of the band... and goddam that album art is fucking perfect and matches the record perfectly

honestly can't think of too many records more essential to music-listening to Spiderland
and we're talking on an F#A# thread, where John Frusciante and Weakerthans have been mentioned... all favorite artists of mine

I've been listening to a lot of "hyped" albums recently sea so I've been listening to a lot of high rated albums as any new sputnik member tends to and them two have been really enjoyable.
Knew quite a bit of post rock pre sputnik but I never got around to Spiderland
sounds great though [2]

yes but you're fish. and your taste in music refuses more so than any other to be bound by any sort of predictability or reason

godspeed and slint are two of the only agreed-upon classics of the post-rock realm that I think are worth the acclaim (ie Spiderland ~1k votes, 4.4 avg)

Do Make Say Think rival either them (in terms of an entire discog) but Sputnik doesn't like them as much

Lights out Asia are one of my favorites in the genre. Not many people have heard of them though.

Oh? I guess I made that assumption due to the fact that it seems like no one is ever posting in their threads.
