Tosin is probably making bank from his Abasi guitars

punk rock mba made a 20 minute video on all the businesses these guys have their hand in years ago

honestly i think the biggest aspect to periphery / aal's financial success is that their fanbases have a lot more money to burn. you go to their shows and its not really a "metal" crowd at all.
their main demographic is like engineers and stem bros who just so happened to play guitar back in the day... and are willing to drop 3-4 figures on tabs, signature guitars, pedals etc. just to collect dust.

I meant djent is definitely tech bro music for sure so that tracks
|
| |
"these dudes are not rich lol"
You some kind of millionaire? Bro the people in this band are definitely more well off than I am

We call those people "whales". A friend of mine is one, but for guitar gear in general. And he works in finance lol

Also let’s not forget Misha Mansoor’s dad is a World Bank economist and Jake Bowen is John Petrucci’s nephew. Not to say they’re not talented or undeserving, but these guys have definitely had access to opportunities for success others generally don’t.

Doesn’t misha have like a Ferrari or something? Seems like something a “not rich” person would have for sure

It’s not unheard of to get a Ferrari as it is to get a Koenigsegg

I think Misha just spends his money wisely that's all. Still not "rich", rich = upper class which makes up like 2% of Americans

just being objective

Is buying a Ferrari considered spending "wisely"?
I don't know, I'm decently well off but I ain't buying a Ferrari anytime soon
|
| |
I’m gonna just give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re trolling
|

Whether they spend their money intelligently or not is an entirely different topic (cars? lol), but I would say these guys are definitely well off.
The band Periphery is basically a pair of tits at this point to attract sponsorships and I would think that's where the real money comes from.

You guys know they don't "own" those cars right lol. They lease them.
|
| |
lol "leasing cars"
|

To be fair, Misha was loaded before he was even in a successful band. how do you think he self produced all those demos like 10 years before you could buy a few plugins and make your bedroom project sound like meshuggah. Dude brought multiple 1000$+ guitars and his axfx on tour before anyone even knew who they were

I think Misha is secretly poor and up to his eyeballs in debt
|
| |
Nah rich family for sure

not gonna act like i "know" these guys but from all the interviews and stuff i've read and watched the only guy who seems to have came from a less-than-ideal background is spencer.
and honestly lets face it. you simply just don't get THIS technically proficient at your instruments without your parents having good money to get you not only the best gear but the best teaching for many years. and you're simply not gonna get this good at playing and producing etc. if you're working or going to school full time. i'd say this prob the case for all the prog bands since like dream theater, who famously started at fucking berkeley.
