Im just drunk enough to confess this, I was driving home from my dad’s place when the news broke.
I cried the whole way home, which was about a 45 min drive. Idk, at the time (almost 6 fucking years jfc), I thought, if this guy that has all the talent, money, fame etc in the world offs himself, what chance do I have?
I’ve since learned to try to love myself. And that everyone’s mental issues are completely unique. RIP Chris. Really, No one sings like you anymore.
I’m going to bed for the night, but I have to say, his daughter’s cover of Black Gives Way to Blue is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.

I might have mentioned this elsewhere, but I had just joined the Navy at the time... I was actually on one of my very first port visits - Newport, RI - when Chris died. I was walking around the town and chilling at the wharf, but as soon as I received the news, it felt like a punch to the gut. And for the rest of that day, I marathoned the entire Soundgarden discog in his memory. R.I.P. to a legend
I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that Superunknown is one of the most important albums to my musical taste. It was the very first grunge album I'd ever heard, and it taught the young progressive rock purist in me to explore a bunch of genres I would have otherwise never touched
