I may actually raise it to 4.5.it's kinda fun the fact that exactly one year ago I was digging the city of caterpillar album and soad's toxicity, and now I'm digging as the roots undo(which I think it has enough COC elements) and soad's steal this album.

As for my favorite song off this,I'd say crowquill, with interview at the ruins coming second.kill the switch(especially the 07:09 riff)is also tremendous.actually there isn't any mediocre song, all of them are good in one level or another.

Agreeing with the Goku facts(great character, cliche etc)

Interview at the Ruins is one of the best songs I have ever heard in my life. I have to disagree with you Alexcore, I felt Crowquill was the weakest on the album, but that is awesome you love it.

Crowquill is definitely the weakest, though the end of that song is still incredible.

I'll tell u what, when I first listened it,I didn't really like it too(but I assume u've heard the album enough times,so ignore the argument above)

after the 5th time it stucked into my head, either because of its lyrics,either...I don't know.(u got me,"GRAVITY DOESN'T GRANT ME THE PRIVILEGE OF FAILURE...AND I KNOW HOW THIS WILL END,WITH APOLOGIES AND INK ON THE PAGE" blew my mind)

But yes, interview at the ruins was the first I listened to and the one which made me give a serious listen to this album.

I've always thought CoC was slightly overrated as well, but idk I tend to prefer either straight-up screamo like pg. 99 or more melodic, slow-building shit like Funeral Diner.

the thing about CoC is that they sounded really tasteful to me. their crescendos were modest, but built up well and weren't too boring. they could let loose, but sound grandiose in the process. and the vocals match the instrumentals perfectly.

in contrast to CTTS where everything is slightly off-kilter and isn't afraid of imploding on itself.

edit: this isn't necessarily a band thing

oh and pg. are without a doubt one of my favorite screamo bands

I agree with both analyses but I see what you said about CTTS as a flaw more than a strength.

i see what you're saying. at times i wish the guitars weren't so high-ended and noisy.
