Honestly, I think that I am enjoying it even more than Kodama as it was coming out, which is truly saying something. Absolutely perfect album.

The metal heads will love Spiritual Instinct I bet, including me if it were released 8 years ago. I liked the album a lot of course, especially the second half, but wish there were more post-rock/dream pop/shoegaze moments.

I can understand that. L'écailles captured that mixture perfectly, and aside from Shelter's full dive into dream pop/shoegaze, I don't think that their work since then has had all that much influence from those styles outside of the way that Neige arranges his vocals.

I'm kind of glad it is lacking that dream pop/shoegaze stuff. Sonically, that stuff is getting old for me.

I would argue that this album has just as much of those styles as it does any genre of metal, if not more.

Something about the bass guitar on SI sounds really impressive, not sure if it's the production or if Neige stepped up the bass lines but in any case it's probably my favorite thing about the record.

Gotta say the new album was underwhelming on first listen, def needs time to sink in but it could be my least favorite Alcest.

album is fantastic, I'd say its the most consistent Alcest release. time will tell if it's as good as this but so far I'm really impressed.
