Especially the straining/oversinging part, that's some serious red flags right there. We'll see...

"This: ''singing beyond my abilities makes things sound good''

No."

Exactly, singing sounds the richest and best when you do what your body does best. And the hard thing about that is that you have to accept the limitations of your voice. Straying from that path too far is gonna put strain on your voice and that's why metal is such a dangerous genre for singers, even with clean vocals

Tl;dr I'm worried about Mikaels vocal health

Yeah exactly. Plus his cleans on albums like GR, Watershed, Damnation, BWP, Heritage are all so amazing. Very emotionally laden, super beautiful. When he does that he's one of my fave metal vocalists for sure. But on the last two he's lost some of his sparkle or something. Not sure what it is.

Still stoked for the album, but also a little apprehensive, especially after the interview.

Yea, I love these GR and Watershed cleans to bits, he doesn't need to push himself into the stratosphere at all

Yeah. PC had Eternal Rains, River. This has nothing. It well and truly is their worst. By far.

Still, it was their 12th (!) record. We should cut them some slack, they've done an amazing job already. It was bound to happen sometime.

Exactly. Still hurts, but it's understandable.

Now I'm going to bed, super mega tired.

Farfalla wanted to turn Opeth into a funk band as far as I know. Hus departure was for the better probably

Pretty sure Åkerfeldt fired Farfalla because he was showing him up lol. He was too good and too much of a showoff for his own good

Really sucks because he was definitely one of the best things about the first 2 Opeth albums

I agree with his idea on singing (I sing myself), though it's a balancing act. Check Ljudet Innan off Storm Corrosion if you wanna hear some of Mikes lovely falsetto.

I think he was losing sight of the bands overall sound and wanted more spotlight from the sounds of things

Ugh, how can you announce an album then a month later have no studio footage/teasers or even a single released?

Getting impatient haha.

Should be a teaser soon (hopefully). Really interested to hear what this new is gonna sound like, even though Sorceress didn't really click for me.

“Johan was fired dude. For an asinine reason.”

akerfeldt said de farfalla wanted to play more “funky stuff” and he and lindgren weren’t down with that.

apparently he didn’t put up any kind of argument when he got the axe
