Damnation was the sound of 70's prog rock as interpreted by Opeth. Their new stuff just sounds like tribute material without really putting an Opeth spin on it.

Yeah that's pretty much how I feel, but their tribute material is still pretty solid and retains just enough opeth sound to be different. I do think their latest was the best they've done since damnation at sounding like opeth doing prog rock though

Heritage is still my least favorite Opeth album :/ Idk, that one just seems so directionless and passionless for an Opeth record. Still has great songs like Devil's Orchard and Folklore, but something about the whole album is just so dull to me
