It's not but I always throw in a few oddballs in my winter playlists - which mostly consist of stuff like skrmz, black metal, emo and shit like that. Y'know, the type of semi-depressive "get totally shitfaced in the woods all alone while the wind is freezing everything around" type of stuff.

Well, all I can say now is that I really want to hear that 'depressing' scrapped record of hers. I'd take "Skin"-the album over this new one, that's for sure. Granted, it's only one listen in but my impression is that most of the songs are just too dancey. There are some ok melodies, just too little substance all in all though. Another factor that this is more or less aimed for a broader audience, is how audibly clear in the mix her voice and words are compared to Visions. And as for now, there is no comparison between the two. Sorry Grimes.

if her voice being clear in the mix is a bad thing that really tells me alot here.

@Calc - I mean it's still Grimes, yet it's almost as if her voice switched from a complimenting layer/instrument on Visions (and previous records for that matter) to a leading instrument on Art Angels. Like, there are more words/lyrics than particular sounds, melodies and vibes to focus on this time around. So for me, the vox lost a bit of the unique quality from previous albums.

she sounds so much better with her voice clearer in the mix tho. her normal voice sounds so much better than the forced quirky high pitch scat singing she does
