Not a fan of either the new singles tbh. But still looking forward to a new album.
Going to see these guys next Sunday. The tour just started but it looks like they merely play MOST of LD 50, not all. Which kinda sucks. At least for the first night they did not play Everything and Nothing, Pharmacoepia (this one really hurts) or (K)Now Forever. Kinda sucks. Still looking forward though, have only seen these guys once (on the new game tour).

yeah i’m seeing them next week and it’s a bit of a bummer that they probably won’t do ean or know forever but it looks like they’ll be playing prod and severed so it should still be awesome.

seeing prod and severed live will show you who in the crowd are the real ones.
Ranges from being a snoozefest to an otherworldly experience (that would be me lol).

“hopefully theyre not falling for the same traps that they did with the post-teoattc albums and everyone can dig it”
Well that’s the most perplexing part of all this; LD50 is universally praised by everyone, and they even came back focusing on that period, yet the new music just sounds like slop from New Game. What gives? lol they’ve had plenty of time to craft a really thoughtful album like LD50.

I think Hellyeah has irrevocably mashed Chad’s head

Chad has said that he has no desire to go back in the direction of this even though he acknowledges that it’s their most popular album

He can't. Don't even mean that disrespectfully. As wild as everyone went on this, Chad put out a once-in-a-lifetime performance.

LD 50 was half a lifetime ago for these guys, literally. Asking them to return to a form that they've long been disconnected from is asking a lot. It's one thing to rewire the muscle memory to play this stuff on stage, it's another to try and recall and repeat the mental and physical state you were in when you were at your most creative and adventurous. The wiki for LD 50 has some good background on their initial approach to writing the songs.

"I think Hellyeah has irrevocably mashed Chad’s head"
Considering his comments about New Game, this is so fucking on point. Chad saw how easy it was to write crap music and sell out venues and didn't want creativity fucking with that paycheck.

Caught the LD 50 Anniversary show at the hwood palladium last night. While I’m still a little bummed they aren’t playing Everything and Nothing, K(Now) Forever and Pharmacoepia (this one especially stings), they sounded fucking great. In fact, Chad sounded much stronger than he did when I saw them all the way back in 2008.
And as it turns out, my AA sponsor who works in the music industry is good friends with Chad (who is 4 years sober) and his wife Shannon. So actually got to hang with them after the show at a bar across the street from the venue. the four of us weren’t drinking of course, but some of the “hanger-ons”/people in his entourage were. Anyway, dude is cool as fuck. Extremely friendly, appreciative, down to earth. Just a stand up fucking guy
Anyway, these guys are sounding better live than they have in years so definitely catch them if you can. And Static-X fucking killed it as the openers. Even Vended, Corey Taylor and Shawn Crahan’s sons’ band who played a 30 minute set, put on a damn good, energetic performance. Their music is derivative as hell and sounds like Slipknot-lite, but the performance itself was solid

Yeah those definitely separated the men from the boys, especially Severed. Intense. I know at some point they decided not to play it anymore because was too much for Chad emotionally (what I read, at least), glad they changed their minds
