That is what I said, just different, but if somebody want to get into "sabbath" you may as well start by listenimg to "sabbath"
As far as live goes, there early shows were recorded terribly, not sure if it is Ozzy's voice or the terrible recording process, when I saw them in at Ozzfest 99-00 (not sure anymore), I thought ozzy's voice was great and they blew the other bands out of the water. I listen to alot of audience recordings of The Grateful Dead, and the sound is the same, the vocals are terrible, but know that is not the case because of the great soundboard recording from the same time, also the newer live shows, like reunion does sound much better, but totally agree, the ozzy live material just sounds bad, for whatever reason

forget recordings wham.....i'm talkin 'live'
ever see Dio in any capacity?
| | | Album Rating: 4.5
so was I, admitted the live material from ozzy sounds bad, but think it is more recording process because when I saw them live 15 years ago, were very good.
no never had any interest, in hearing any Dio live, You by now know my reasons, just like I had no interest in seeing Van Hagar, I wanted to see Van HALEN
would of liked to see Rainbow or Elf, but by the time I would of seen him, would not have liked it, but I know he is a good performer, just not my thing.

If you are not interested that's ok but you shouldn't say Ozzy shows were better without checkin Dio's
Ozzy live shows were worse not only thanks to their production but also because Ozzy's voice is bad and because Iommy and Geezer play on safe mode, the songs sound to similar to their studio counterparts, with Dio there was more improvisation; Heaven and Hell usually lasted more than 10 minutes.
Rainbow live was better than anything Sabbath has ever done live. Live in Munich is classic

yeah Ritchie really knew how to put on a show

always loved the spoken word and extended intro to die young during the live act

Or when Dio asks the crowd to sing Heaven and Hell with him, he did the same with Rainbow and Dio, he always loved that

I never said anything about ozzy shows being better than Dio shows, read the thread, I can't comment on any Dio shows because, Ive never heard one, in fact I said the Ozzy boots that I have heard sound terrible, but liked the show I saw Live, I am not the anti-christ, I also am not a Dio basher, If you read any of my posts, I say in my opinion I like the Ozzy stuff better, and that when referring to Sabbath, I think you should refer to the original lineup that put out 8 albums, 6 great 2 terrible, not a group that was together for 2 albums. Love Dio, that's fine, H&H is awesome, Mob Rules "I think" is a step below that, and that's all, when people think of Maiden do they think the 2 Paul albums, no they think of Bruce, Even I, who is a stanch "stick to the originals" person will defer to a member who has many more albums than somebody who put out 10% of the Bands albums, and by the way we are on a Ozzy years album thread, just saying
| | | Album Rating: 4.5
Fair enough I apoligize, don't think it is wrong to bring up Dio on an Ozzy-era thread though
There are some awesome live moments with Ozzy though, like the bootleg version of Megalomania

Ya Past Lives is disappointing too, though. Did nobody think to plug into the board in their entire career until reunion, which I do think sounds good, I'll lay off Ronnie James, have respect for him, didn't say it was wrong to mention him on the page, but was saying that probably get more Ozzy fans than Dio, also, Ozzy is not the only reason I like those albums better, I think they were more daring, experimental, and interesting on those albums,

Dio singing Megalomania?
Now where can I hear that?

Agree Titan, my hang up is probably the name, too different to call Sabbath, more than just Dio. When I was young I think I borrowed Mob Rules from a friend who had an older bro who was into it, being 8-9 I thought it was another Sabbath album, and much to my surprise, it was totally different fromthe Sabbath I was used to, that might still be with me.
thinking about our discussion yesterday, I do remember 1 chance I had to see Dio, it was mid ninties, sabbath was touring and I was doing security at Alpine Valley, there was a push to get more security because there was a rumor that Ozzy was going to perform with them, So I was asked to show, but then I got pulled because it was going to be Dio, and they didn't think they needed as many security gaurds, so they pulled me to a Pearl Jam show at Summerfest in Milwaukee
love the Paul albums, both in my top 5 for sure.
