'I remember reading second hand that Matt said they didn’t expect cosmic to be so popular with the fans and that it would get added on the second leg'
I hope this is accurate because my date is indeed on the 2nd leg
@onion - glad you had a good time man

after seeing them i def get why they cant just throw it in. they already spent so much time and money putting together the visuals and animations for their live shows that sync to the songs

they really killed it i was very impressed. brooks is a fuckin machine on the drums the heavier part in mattel hit like an avalanche live
also i think m shadows saying "that's why you don't live or die by the radio" right before they played a visibly bored hail to the king performance is probably the funniest shit ive heard anyone say before starting a song live lmao

im glad Mattel wasn't a single tbh, shit definitely does it's 2nd track on the album job and felt all the better for not knowing it prior
Nobody was a grower so it works as a single imo. Cosmic being the next single would be a great timeline.

Hail to the King is atrocious, but what really surprises me is how much love there is for Nightmare (the whole album). I remember when that dropped and I could have sworn it was universally disliked and boring generic radio metal.

Hail to the King is atrocious [2]
idk how it was received on a grander scale but when i say Nightmare was the album of my friend group, i really mean it was THE album of my friend group when it dropped.

its such an awful song (and album) and i enjoyed 0 seconds of them playing it but they will never cut it. that song pays the bills
shit i was talking to like 5 random fans at the show and they all insisted on that being their best album and not being into the new shit at all

I've never enjoyed a single avenged song until listening to this album

i can see not being into the new shit (weak opinion) but thinking httk is better than anything before it is fucking criminal

I do get some enjoyment out of a bunch of those fans expecting a bunch of tracks off that record to get played, the band basically saying this shit sucks, and only playing title track.

rough crowd - it's not that bad.....it's just a clean hard rock song for the masses

only people who think nightmare is "generic radio metal" are people who already disliked them
nightmare i'd say is probably their most universally beloved album among their fanbase... and was probably their peak in relevance as well tbh. hail to the king was more popular but kinda for the wrong reasons lol

I thought Save Me always felt really disjointed imo, something just doesn't work about it for me. The bridge is a highlight of Nightmare, but thats about it
