"new one is fantastic in its bookends and consistently decent in the middle "

Actually enjoying the middle more myself.

so did I do the right thing by (unintentionally) ignoring everything between this and the new one? Perhaps I'll fill in some gaps for context or whatever but this course of action is working quite well for me thus far

id say regardless of their front to back shape that wish and bloodflowers are still very much worth listening to

Wish is one of the greatest of all time, so is this, so is Songs of a Lost World.

conventional wisdom holds that the abridged discog finishes on Wish (and enough people will whine about Bloodflowers akshually being peak Cure that you might as well hit that to tell them they're wrong)

I was taking the piss.

It all massively derailed at that point, band was tired, found itself in a completely different era that just wasn’t interested and they never bounced back until now.

You definitely need to include Wish BUT you need to skip Friday I'm In Love and Wendy Time on it or you'll fuck up the whole vibe.

S/T (2004) is kind of cringe but it's honestly not that bad. The Promise...

drop three imaginary boys down a tier, make the top the very bottom of the list, and slot pornog around where wish is and i can maybe see that. would prob have seventeen seconds a lil higher too

ah so that's where Friday I'm In Love is, lol...

I've heard that song enough times, so that should be easily doable

faith is my favorite of the "dark trilogy" but seventeen seconds does majorly rule and has only gotten better by the day vs pornog
