I didn't see anything too out-there. If anything, the album is well-written, but probably too safe.

Perhaps too much wasn't the good word. I don't like some of the choices they've made. The voice-overs for instance. Some of the more simplistic ideas.

Switch the t/t with The Ward and Wilde Flowers or Chrysalis with Spring 1972 (and maybe cut the other one) and the album just improves

I loved the Wylde Flowers the first three four times I listened to it (and still love the solo part), but now I feel like it's been built around a very specific melody (DUN! DUN! DUN! DUN! DUN! durururu) and it's becoming progressively annoying to listen to it. But Chrysalis has remained a very enjoyable song.

I'm on the fence with Chrysalis. On paper it should be amazing, but it isn't

Cusp is a banger, agreed. BUT, it just doesn't compare to Eternal Rains and Faith in Others.

Perfect ways to open and close an album.

Gotta agree with you there, especially in regards to Eternal Rains. Easily one of my favorite Opeth openers

Axe absolutely kills it on that song, he isn't mentioned enough due to Lopez being more of a fan favourite.
His drum performance on Heritage is incredible.
