"people who hate on mainstream pop music are way more insufferable than those who like it tbh"
this is the only opinion you can hold without being in cognitive dissonance with your ratings and posts, and i'm not surprised you would say this
"just because everyone agrees on something, doesn't mean it's true.
very basic logic, dude."
and at the same time, when you disagree with everyone on everything, you're probably full of shit

the fact you hone in on one of sinternet's 4.5 ratings that happen to be a pop album while selectively ignoring every non pop album that sinternet has given a good score too just tells me u being hella dumb... yo.

unless im horrible misunderstanding something here
|

you are, and you're also being very defensive for no good reason
just like the kanye thread

clover brings up a good point. to this day, people will still say something/someone sucks just because they're mainstream while adoring pink floyd and metallica, both of whom were mainstream in their time.
and at the same time, when you disagree with everyone on everything, you're probably full of shit possibly, but certainly not necessarily. at the same time, recall that most people in general adore mainstream pop for what it is and does; there are many more of them than those who prefer rock and other forms of music.
by this standard, wouldn't those who don't prefer mainstream pop be the ones disagreeing with the majority and more likely to be full of shit?
understand that the majority of those in this site and sites like rym, are on the whole, actually the minority.

| |
well forgive me for horribly misunderstanding everything then
and the kanye thread was less because someone hated kanye but more someone hated kanye and cant back it up, which is a bunch of typical bs that i hate. i expect conviction. i expect BLOOD. man, im not even the biggest kanye fan out there, considering I still havent heard his first two albums in full nor are my ratings as reflective as the fan boys. i thought that was obvious enough.
|
| |
and my defensiveness itt is because i cant comprehend things that read like pure stupidity to me because im dumb or something

Bieber's album Believe is honestly still a pretty decent album. His other stuff including his new one are a different story tho
|
| |
bieber is one of those artists where you can make a very solid 15 track compilation of his best songs and then set the rest on fire, i do consider him a disposable pop artist.

A large portion of mainstream pop is horseshit though.
I'm talking the stuff that makes it onto the top 40 not electronic/RnB in general ofcourse.
Not just because I'm tired of having it jammed down my throat, most of it is just incredibly simple, overly repetitive, 2 dimensional, thoughtlessly structured crap with childish lyrics designed to make you nod your head the first few times you hear it and shake it the next 200 times before its taken off the airwaves and never spoken off again. It's basically the fast food of the music industry.
Hell the artists themselves would probably tell you the same thing.

i am confused by what you said parks [2]
i need someone to hold me hand, because apparently i misunderstood everything he said.

like you will never catch me in this lifetime like "alright chuckie lets do this lets listen to this bieber album front to back"
i cant imagine it being that interesting

@balls, a lot of pop is disposable, yeah. but thats always been a thing since the history of music. i dont blame people who can't be assed to go find the number of good hits that chart every year, because I get a lot of it is disposable because the business still functions like that (for the most part). but people who just go on these tangents of it being "lesser" than other genres need to shove their head in a toilet.

^that's alright, but i think i can honestly apply that to a lot of artists as well.
|

@chuck, his music isnt that interesting outside of the few cuts here and there. which is the norm for the cream of his particular flavor of crop.

There's absolutely no denying that a great majority of mainstream pop is bullshit. But of course there are the minority that make something that's out of the ordinary; you just have to sift through the bullshit
|
| |
@cyg, I agree, I cant begin to name the number of alt albums that no one talks about because its all the same banal bs that tries to be deep or sophisticated. yet the mind set of the population majority seems to believe most other genres aren't like that since there is usually a larger pallet of quality selection because those industries dont model their albums to be "select singles" collections because they aren't competing for the top 40/100 exposure. thats why im phrasing it like that.

"@chuck, his music isnt that interesting outside of the few cuts here and there. which is the norm for the cream of his particular flavor of crop."
i figured as much
dont know how to explain it but when listening to like top 40 stuff once in awhile ill hear a song and it just clicks and check it out (happened with lorde and royals first time i heard it), never had that sort of light go off for a bieber song yet
