Snare on the remix sounds way better imo. As to it being loud, I mean yeah it's louder but I don't personally think it's too loud. I don't think the original is terrible or anything, my main gripe with it is that you miss out on so much sick bass.
And idk man, I don't think TSoP is anywhere close to something like Symbolic, ITP, etc. It still slays but it's my lowest rated Death. Also the only Death album I have to be in the right mood to hear. But tbh, considering Death's "worst" album is still a 4, I think anyone could make an argument for any album being their "best".

the remaster sounds great considering (i could be wrong as fuck but lemme act like i know what i'm talking about cuz ithink i read something) they didn't use the original master tapes to make it. the bass sounds better than any attempt at 'and justice for jason' i've heard. i also love all the bonus shit they've put on these releases. human and itp pretty much got me into death metal buuuuuut spirit crusher was my introduction to death
