The duopoly is horseshit, two sickly rich parties that largely don't relate to the people they're making decisions for. They also expect to be served by the people instead of serving them. You can't expect to take my basic, deserved in any culture, human freedoms and say thanks and not ask for anything else. Less exploitation of civil service positions? Would you actually try to argue as if that is anywhere close to gone? And there's still so much exploitation of the whole economy at whoever's expense.



"Capitalism is morally neutral." My ass. Do you look into the business practices of nearly any moneymaking corporation ever? Just on my mind today, even something as trivial seeming as gaming is a great example. Billion dollar industry. Lots of developers are super corporations. Constant price gouging, ugly amounts of incentive to gamble hundreds for worthless things, and generally giving people less for paying more (unfinished AAA games), and they try to argue that they're meeting a demand for the public when they're actually imposing this on the consumer at no one's request. It's gotten worse and worse over the past 15 years. Where does it end? Is the military industrial complex morally neutral? Really? Is millions of Americans wrapped up in myriad types of debt morally neutral?



Capitalism is based on the idea that every person or group of persons is greedy and overly self-interested, and people under it are forced to decide how much they want to play that game.

Idk Trump seemed like a shill for a lot of folks/entities to me. Not like an Israeli plant though. Don't think that's what Fort was trying to say. And Trump wasn't Hitler, but the funny thing about that is all roads lead to the mf being a literal fascist.



But America hasn't really been willing to critique Israel's ultra right wing politics for a long time; hopefully something like that happens.

I never said that capitalism is perfect, which is why I actually lean somewhat left.



All those problems you listed all existed under leftist governments (except maybe debt). Many leftist governments basically bankrupted themselves through massive military expenditures in a vain attempt to match the US's own spending (at the expense of their own citizenry). In their systems, the military was also inextricably linked with the government (generals and military leaders holding high positions). Likewise, many had or have de facto worse labor exploitation practices (think China, where every major company has close ties with the Chinese Communist Party and there's a widespread culture of working 60 hour weeks).



Obviously lobbyists court uncompetitive advantages on behalf of powerful corporations from Congress and state legislatures all the time. But how does this compare to centrally-planned left-wing economies where money is pilfered, squandered, and stolen to lace the coffers of sleazy bureaucrats?



I am simply arguing capitalism is the least worst system we have.

ok, then lets apply theory to actual real world situations. there is only one fundamental issue at the heart of modern political structures: who is entitled to reap the rewards of labor.



the only moral and ethical answer to this question is that those who do the labor are entitled to ALL of the products of their labor. it is fundamentally wrong to argue that is it morally correct to allow someone who does no labor to extract wealth from those who do, i.e. capitalists.



you are not wrong to state that capitalism is the catalyst for massive technological and societal improvements, but this has come at the expense of hundreds of millions of lives throughout history. this is why it is myopic to judge the success of an ideology simply by how much technological progress it has made. lets not forget that the soviet union modernized and industrialized their entire economy in just a little over 20 years. but they did that at the expense of basically their entire population of laborers. was that progress justified? it is almost universally agreed upon that it wasnt.



the bottom line is, we live in an unjust society until every man, woman, child, and everything inbetween has access to food, water, shelter, healthcare, and a holistic education. and there is simply no possible way that a society whose ultimate goal is endless profits can furnish the conditions to create that world. have other ideologies tried and failed to do this as well? of course, but that doesnt mean we just give up because bad actors have fucked things up.



there needs to be a fundamental moral and ethical reckoning across the globe, one that values the fair and just treatment of all above selfish, personal greed. until that happens, no substantial progress will be made.



@uncle yeah, of course. trump is an authoritarian with fascist tendencies and could be characterized as proto-fascist, but we certainly don't live in a full-blown fascist state. at least, not yet.
