Just listened through the remix and I love it overall. Snare is a bit weird but I'll gladly have that over the absurdly tinny sound of the whole album before, and the guitars actually have some heft now. God I love this album, probably my favorite of theirs.

The guitars and bass sound way better. I just think since I’m so focused on drums most of the time that it bothers me more than most people. I’m glad people got different options though. This is my favorite on some days then others it’s TGM.

Not sure how I feel about the remaster. The guitars and synthesisers sound better, but the drums sound extremely weak like others have pointed out.

Is the bass cranked up to 11 on the remaster of this like it was on The Silent Circus remaster?

Hyped to check the remix/master

Yeah, they botched the outro of Selkies on the remaster. It begins to fade out almost immediately, and fades way too fast. That itself is enough for me not to want to listen to the remaster again. Only other perceivable difference is that the bass and keyboards are a bit louder in the mix.

And the whole album having, like... mids...

tbh I think the remaster sounds pretty good overall, the guitars especially really shine now. It's kinda tough to judge considering how long I've been listening to the OG for.

I think overall it sounds better, but to me it loses a lot of the aggression in the remix. I also think they have the snare way too high in the mix to the point where it’s distracting. Won’t complain though since Ill just listen to the OG mix and people who dig the new one have more options.

The snare is a bit weird (though I do like loud snares so it doesn't bug me too much), but I really love how I can hear the kick and the toms a lot better now. Everything sounds a bit more spaced out. On the whole the remaster sounds significantly better.
They did make some bad decisions here and there, though. As Relinquished said, the vocals in the first verse of Alaska are screwed up. I also don't like how they toned down the group vocals during the chorus of All Bodies; Tommy's singing in that part doesn't stand on its own very well and it makes the chorus feel less anthemic.
Remasters are always weird because when it's an album you've been listening to for over a decade, you grow so attached to all the little details, even the flaws.

Agreed, that’s why I keep giving this and TSC remix a shot. Still not really enjoying them over the OG mixes, even with their issues. I do hope with them remixing all their old stuff that they might throw some older songs on their live set lists now. They obviously despise playing selkies at this point, so I hope they play some other stuff from this album.

How do y’all feel about the remix?
Edit: oops. I’ll just read the previous comments

Not a fan at all of the remix, unsurprisingly. Drums sound like shit now, hilarious amount of reverb on Tommy's cleans... guitars sound slightly better I guess.
Will def be sticking to the original

Heard this in full today, and other than Selkies and a few tasty licks scattered throughout the album I ain't feeling it much

Better than converge and dillinger put together yeah, but this far from their best material imo

What you think of the remix tundra?

I think the remix improves the album, this record didn't need it that much but some sections do hit harder with the more 'full' mix
