Listened to this driving to school today after not hearing it for a while. It's so damn good, this album has so much dimension with all the layered trippy guitar noise and the very organic sound effects. Climbing Up The Walls hit me so hard, that song is amazing.

it's possible to not enjoy something while acknowledging that it's not complete shit. plus i like a couple of songs on here hence the 3. i say i generally don't like them as a band because other than this i don't enjoy any of their records at all

"i can't stand" means they irritate you to the point of not being able to bear listening to them. that isn't a 3, whatever way you look at it. maybe i took your wording too literally. if this didn't have the hype and you just stumbled across it by yourself, would you still acknowledge it as good and give it a 3? people should attempt to rate music in a vacuum, based on their own enjoyment of it, without having to bend(s) to the pressure of the greater concensus.

dude chill out, i'll summarize: i can stand this album and think it's okay 3/5. i can't stand any of their other records regardless of how many people like them, even if i'm perceptive enough to understand why other people like them. i'm not bending towards any "greater concensus", i think this is a shit band with one record that i kind of like.
