Gotta listen to this again soon, now that we're so far into autumn. Unfortunately San Diego hasn't had too many rainy or overcast days recently, so I don't feel like the vibe is just right yet

Last year when this was reissued for its 20th anniversary, Steven Wilson who produced it, posted in Facebook that this was the first release by which the Swedes escaped metal, somewhat insinuating that being within metal all these years was somehow limiting for Opeth.
Wilson forgets that the original audience of (non-metal) Porcupine Tree in the '90s, were metalheads (in Greece, at least).

Funny how I said this so recently, as there's been a shit-ton of rain in San Diego over the last month or so. Or in other words, perfect Opeth weather

"Still Life" always was my fave of them. I'm a huge fan of that album.

Still Life is my favorite too, although MAYH is a close second (and GR is a close third)

Morningrise has really grown on me lately, but Still Life over all. GR has my favorite Opeth moments, but a little too much filler

GR and MAYH always tied for my fav. Still Life and Orchid aren't far behind them for me.

In what concerns to me, my favourites are: Still Life, Blackwater Park, Damnation, Ghost Reveries and Watershed.

Watershed was weird for me. The prog-rock parts were great and the metal felt oddly paint-by-numbers.
