Bogg are incredible live tbh (seen em 3 times). Even if you didn't dig the new record I'd say it's worth it to go along with the supporting bands. Totally understand not wanting to hit a sketchy part of town tho. I used to do that frequently to catch some great hc/punk shows in my 20s

If you can look past the obvious pastiches, it's a fantastic prog death metal concept album. I highly recommend you check it out for yourself. Then go back to Hidden History... if you want more straight up technical death metal.

It's a fine album. The concept part is interesting and the back and forth between atmospheric parts and DM is pretty cool. But the Death Meatal parts are actually a lot more bland and unremarkable than on earlier albums. All considered this is easily their weakest album to date.
