"and I don’t see them having the longevity of Metallica or a lot of those other legacy bands."
i think they absolutely will if they continue to make music of this quality and continue to experiment with new sounds
this album dropped 22 years after stst. in metallica's timeline that's like if they dropped an album on par with their classic material in 2005.
think they've already shown to have a lot more longevity than the bands they always get associated with even. slipknot has been touring off the strength of their first 3-4 albums for 15 years now (very apt metallica comparison). bfmv has fallen off a ton commercially. disturbed's biggest song of the last 15 years is a simon and garfunkel cover.
...all the while a7x has been pumping out the best music of their career, and when they weren't they were at least pumping out huge radio singles

I feel like A7X reached a point where they said "Ok, we've been commercially successful for over 15+ years. We have a ton of big songs that still get radio play/talked about today. You know what? Lets fuck around and see what happens."

Literally laughed out loud!

@alex: Completely agree with all of that, and I think A7X's status as a future legacy act is pretty well-cemented at this point. Albums like CoE and WtF have been on several retrospective "best of" publication lists, and The Stage and LIBAD prove that the band still have plenty of gas left in the tank creatively... unlike many of their peers, I might add

Doubt they’re changing up the setlist after MSG.
I remember reading second hand that Matt said they didn’t expect cosmic to be so popular with the fans and that it would get added on the second leg
But again that’s all from just some post I read

im not banking on cosmic either but if i get both cosmic and blue spade in one night that alone will cement it as one of the best shows ive ever been to lol

ya lol as glad i am that this album rules and as stoked as i am to see them aof my top dawgs. part of why im so stoked for this show tho both bands are big cornerstones for me and dominated very different parts of my musical years so this show is gonna be a wild nostalgia night, except with the added bonus that both bands are somehow off their best and most ambitious albums

i wonder why they can't just like add it right now though. looks like they do some crazy screen projected visualizers during the new songs and maybe don't have one ready for cosmic? also have read syn is typically pretty slow to learn to play his solos front to back live and a big portion of that song is him just shredding. has to be one of those two things cause it seems like an otherwise pretty easy song to just throw into their set
i find this stuff very interesting

Could also be logistics with vocoder vocals. Matt didn’t even use them on Ordinary live. Maybe they figure if they add Cosmic they’ll definitely have to bring the extra equipment.
But I don’t know shit about any of this, just speculating.

I find it really interesting when a band/artist/member is surprised by their fans reception to certain songs. It is wild to me when an albums singles are picked wrong because artists generally bet it right. They have a general idea of what is their best/most accessible/fan favorite etc.

We Love You was definitely the right pick for a single, kinda shows how weird they’re gonna get with it but Nobody should absolutely not have been one. Mattel probably should’ve been the lead one imo
