Yeah depends on how many albums a band has released. If there’s only a few then chrono from the start is the way to go. Where as if a band has like 20 albums, then yeah cherry pick the best of

Always chrono. Everything else is false and sacrilegious.

I'm gonna hazard a guess that anyone who's vehemently against anything but chrono has an abundance of time on their hands. In an ideal world, I'd agree.

demon your method is an equal use (waste, same thing) of time and it kinda don’t matter what you believe when in the end they’re gonna check what they’re gonna check without anyone rushing them

Being your own boss has its advantages, yes

It's only an equal waste of time if they eventually check everything anyway, which can't be guaranteed. At least I eliminated one album, which you said wasn't necessary anyway. My point wasn't necessarily about CoL, it goes for any artist. Start where you want.

I would start on Salvation and from there chronologically. Later S/T and The beyond.

starting from Salvation isn’t bad either but to skip on one of post-metal’s heaviest albums is egregious as fuck

I am too, i just think time is valuable and you should test out the waters with an album where the chances are higher that you will enjoy it and get most out of your time listening.
of course there are people out there whose whole free time is spend on exploring and listening to music, i was like that too for a couple years. if you're in that phase, sure, go ahead and approach discogs from a chronological angle.

I dont get how you rate this album 4.5 and above. It's not even close to the old stuff, pretty generic
