Because their sleeping on silk sheets they dont no whats good anymore. And they sold out they have to sound as mainstream as possible that includes the clean production

When you become metallica one of the biggest bands in the history of music......... the hunger to make great heavy music is not there anymore. Atleast not to the same degree as it was when they were coming up. They lost it it's as simple as that it's no secret. Ppl have been asking why dont metallica make albums as great as in the 80s anymore for 30 years... look what they became. No hunger to

First and last songs fuck, that's enough for me from a modern Metallica record.

If they just cut off the fat of this one and didn't make it a double album, it would be a VERY solid release and their best in decades

Yeah, cut out a couple tracks from the second half and make it 10 tracks and it'd be an easy 4 for me

"spit out the bone" is a riff continent in an ocean of boring songs

[3] Spit Out the Bone is way too good for most of this album tbh

Still, I do enjoy quite a few songs on here. I haven't been too impressed with the new singles so far, but here's hoping 72 Seasons is at least solid... that's really all I can hope from Metallica at this point

Spit out the Bone is better than everything on Death Magnetic… an album I have rated the same as Ride the Lightning

And yeah koris, I’m at about the same point.

The only thing I have against them making new music is that it’s gonna take up half the setlist instead of the classics I want to hear.

Hell, I’d take most St Anger cuts over most of the stuff on this

i could be dead wrong, but the vibes I'm getting from 72S is that it'll be a step up from the last two albums, or at least a step up from HW, though not my much. i predict a 3.4 rating. I get to listen to it tomorrow a full day in advanced so i'll see if im right or not

Glad to see someone else who enjoys Death Magnetic that much, I always thought the avg was way too low on here. The production's not great, but the songcraft is right up there with most of their 80s material imo... not to mention quite proggy in spots

Judging by the tracklist, it looks like 72 Seasons is gonna be just as bloated as Hardwired was. I'm pretty curious about what they're gonna do with the 11-minute track at the end

see im actually excited about that song. metallica have been good at writing big epic closing tracks and that 11 minute runtime makes me hope for something insanely good. even if the rest of the album is mid, i have a feeling that song will be the one track to take away from it, like the "outlaw torn" or "spit out the bone" of the album

I got my preorder early new album is their best since the black album. On par with death magnetic atleast deff a step up from this even tho this album has some good tracks there's just to much filler here. "Murder one" "manunkind" "am I savage". Folks should be really pleased with the new one the lads did a good job and James sounds great. Lyrically he's top notch as well most the album has a deeper more heartfelt lyrics about growing up and shit. Album has a bit more character and more of a identity than this one good stuff. And their having a blast playing it's not forced like a number of the later albums feel. I'm pretty pleased with it. Think this but with less filler and more of a kill em all/nwobhm vibe with Stronger hooks and more melody.

I don’t know you but I choose to believe you and hope I like it.

Didn’t realize the last track was 11 minutes. Jesus, that’s their longest song right?

That's all you can do is form your own opinion boss. Yeah I'm pretty sure it's their Longest official track they might of had a cover or a lulu song that was longer tho idk. inamorata its a banger. Very doomy sabbath influenced track and they go into this crazy feel good complex jam session in the middle of the track. Definitely a highlight.

Good to hear. I’m looking forward to it. Obviously Metallica ‘81-‘91 is untouchable then I was overall disappointed in them for 20 years (!) from 1996 to 2016. I came to like Load and Hardwired was good and it’ll be interesting to see what 72 seasons is like all together
