The singles are superb to me. They fit even better from the context of the album as a whole.

J0K's soundoff describes it perfectly. It's definitely the most metal record they've done since le secret, but it still manages to keep the atmosphere that makes this and l'écailles so perfect. The last three tracks are much more dynamic though, and le miroir is pure shoegaze.

Yeah its much different than I expected, they definitely changed it up for this one and I think that's awesome. It's not a stagnation, and feels more like a grower than something immediately catchy or trying to be pretty all the time, which would have been easy for them to do.

I finally got the chance to jam the new one in full. Really interesting direction Neige took this time. Intro track and Le miroir are definitely my early standouts. Gorgeous soundscapes on those particular two. The singles also fit in a lot better with context to the album agreed. Not nearly as good as this though, I must say. This album is still flawless to me in every conceivable way. Couple snoozer moments on the new one... cannot lie.

Yeah I dont immediately think it will reach Kodama levels overall, but it sounds fresh for them and is definitely solid. They could have easily just made Kodama part two or another dreampop record and they definitely didn't.
Couple of riffs drag a bit at times , I dont feel like that for a second on Kodama.

Ecailles is superb too, pretty close to this actually. So beautiful. Souvenirs is great, title track is one of Neige's best songs EASY.
Something about this one tho man... just hits right with me.

Okay, that's fair enough.
To me, Ecailles is one of the prettiest albums I've ever heard.

Jammed the new one first thing in the morning (officially out in my time zone) while walking my way to work through the park with a sizzle and leaves starting to fall.
Absolutely magical. Neige and co. most riff oriented album and beautiful melodies. It's Alcest through and through. I already love "Sapphire".

The singles didn't really leave an impression on me but I still have high hopes for the new one. Not expecting it to be one of their best or anything just hoping its at least like 4/5

This band is weird to me. I love the first 3 albums and am meh on the last three, despite the consensus being they have been consistent all the way through. I don't get what I'm missing. I mean, like I like Voyages a lot more than Kodama.

Yeah the new one is certainly the most riff oriented release I’ve heard from alcest

That was my impression too the moment Protection dropped. I dunno, I honestly really liked the track. I’ll give the album a listen tomorrow when it drops.

Totally. First time I heard it, I was like “Damn, I never knew they had it in them to do a riff oriented track that REALLY riffs!”
