Exactly. lol

I know you're joking, but it just doesn't appeal to me. I'm good with this album.

Goodness is fantastic and so is the cover.

I think the cover of Goodness is beautiful and profound in its boldness, and the fact that it makes us uncomfortable should make us confront our own shortcomings and biases. That's what good art should do in the first place. Challenge you and create an experience.

One of the top ten examples of album art in the decade, I would say.

I both agree and disagree with that simultaneously. I like the album art but if it’s just weird/gross for the sake “challenging” people then it ain’t right. I guess I don’t see it that way though

But, it's not weird and gross. It's just old people naked. As they naturally are before they perform that odd social custom of getting dressed.

Edit: I mean, there are certainly a lot of reasons we especially find old folks bodies repugnant, specifically a fear of deterioration, decay and eventual death come to mind. I think the art's decision to embrace that kind of deterioration and decay so brazenly is beautifully symbolic. Certainly, Christian Holden has yet to face the trauma of aging to that degree, but Goodness in itself is about recognizing the trauma of Nohome, accepting it, even embracing it, and moving forward from it.

the record art yelling that we shouldn't find that decay and deterioration, physical and by extension, mental, repugnant in the first place is a powerful commentary in and of itself. Clothes are just a way to lie about ourselves and hide ourselves from each other, the artificial front, the mask, we put on to be sensible, but the true beauty always lies in all that ugliness underneath.

That’s why context matters though. If you went for a walk outside and passed this cult-like group of naked old people standing in a field, you can’t tell me it wouldn’t be super weird and gross. I don’t know why christian chose this to be the album art, so I can’t judge it

Lol I didn't mean to start a whole discussion about this, but I see both of your points.

I guess part of me just thinks I would be listening to it, and somebody would walk by while I'm on my computer at school and be like "Um, that's a little creepy." hahaha

I don't know. I might get around to it sometime.

the real problem with the cover is it's so hot so when you're on Spotify and it comes on all of a sudden you're turned on and stuff

I guess people will have different reference points for groups of naked old people but it reminds me of the hilarious and upsetting "dress the supreme court" activity in John Stewart's book America that scarred me as a kid

I'm not even sure if it ever was uncensored on spotify, I can't recall, youtube does the same shit for every song off that record

their censorship is so idiotic, and yet funny, when it comes to the likes of black and death metal as well, like every vile act depicted is cool as long as you don't show the nips!!!

Funny how nudity is censored, but Cannibal Corpse album art is just fine. A zombie eating out another gored out zombie? Fun for the whole family!

There's an argument to be made for violence being worse but I have no issue with Spotify censoring it, prevents some 10 year old kid from stumbling across it and being blasted with the unwanted image of a bunch of naked old people
