A Warm Place is one of the best ambient pieces ever written. Also love how it comes at the perfect time in the album... right after the chaotic schizophrenic ending of Big Man With a Gun.

The Becoming is so fucking weird with the screaming sample but I love how gloriously evil it is.

Mr. Self-Destruct is such a crazy harsh song for an album with millions of copies sold, and it's the opener, I can't imagine how many people turned this album off after just that song

Mr. Self Destruct rules tho? Do people not like it because it starts with the sounds of a guy being tortured? Because if that’s the case I disagree. It sounds almost comical, like he’s being punched by a rock em sock em robot repeatedly.

The Becoming is absolutely mindblowing with that sampling and the breakdown at the end with the double bass and Trent’s harsh vocals. It’s like industrial death metal or something

This album is the perfect mix of rock, metal, electronic, industrial, and experimental influences. Maybe even some ambient as well.

I still love the fact that the intro to Big Man With a Gun is just extremely distorted hardcore porn moaning.

I'm talking about the chorus mostly, which is insanely loud and noisy. Imagine being someone who only listened to the cascade of trip hop and alternative rock of the time, blind buying this and then hearing that super distorted guitar just power chord its way into ripping ya ears off.
