Rudess is an awesome player but he is such a bore to listen to...

Kevin Moore's work was so much more substantial but i remember reading that he had always been an asshole with his former bandmates...

Best you can do is to pass on it... Ignorance is bliss sometimes.

I don't know where to begin with to be honest. What hits me the most is probably the uninspired songwriting and the total lack of creativity as a whole. You can feel with terrifying clarity the spark is gone... No substance, no meaning, they have nothing at all to say anymore.

The only reason i have yet to check it is the duration. I mean 2 hours plus of dream theater had always been too much for me but 2 hours plus of 2016 dream theater is a suicide.

Dear lord, I listened to the first disc of The Unastonishing and I couldn’t even sit through the entire disc before I had to give up on the thing. Already knew then and there that I absolutely hated it and Davil667 pretty much summed up my reasons for hating it.

Well, don't say I didn't warn you rock bro... But I can understand the desire to check it out. It's hard to imagine what a trainwreck it truly is without a first hand experience.

I think this slightly edges out Operation: Mindcrime, but both are fantastic. Without Operation: Mindcrime, this album wouldn't exist.

Rudess is good but I prefer him on the LTE albums.

It's kinda funny how everthing that was/is good about this band can also be their weakness.

Even if you have all the pieces, songwriting makes a huge difference.

Isn't the songwriting one of the most important things of creating music?

Some people were complaining about a story here but I love it and the way it is presented. And literally every time I hear the breakdown in Finally Free I've got shivers on my back
