The "poor cousin..." comment is from a "critics" viewpoint. Music critics/reviewers of the day hated Sabbath. Their albums were almost always sneered at, while fawning over everything Zeppelin did, and to a lesser extent, Purple. Personally, i'd take Sabbath any day of the week over Zeppelin (much as I like Zep).
