There is sub sections of metalcore

There is technical progressive metalcore

There is alternative metal with breakdowns aka butt rock

I dont mind that BMTH is butt rock cause they've always been that, it's always been their lane

Erra's lane was technical progressive metalcore and they've decided to abandon the subgenre cause it's no longer profitable.

It's like if fucking protest the hero went butt rock everyone would be outraged, but for some reason when its erra sput is fine with it, and notice I only said sput, rym arent caught in this delusion, cure its rightfully lowest rated on there.

tundra you have dust of the human shape 4.5d you cannot complain about "sellout moves" from the dudes without being consistent with the most obvious sellout move in erra history lmfao

the fact that you constantly want to try and undermine the artistic ambition an album like that and claim it's all for profit while simultaneously being the biggest butt rock fan on the site, is never not gonna feel like constant cope :shrugs:

It's a sad story, progressive metal used to be forward thinking a couple years ago, you had The Contortionist, Ne Obliviscaris, Periphery, Between the Buried and Me, but now that forward thinking has become completely extinct, everything is fucking pop shit now, so I bent the knee, it's clear that no band is trying to push the boundaries anymore besides like Polyphia, I just gave in to this easily excessible pop crap, cause if I dont I'll be left behind, shit like Bad Omens, Dayseeker, I give them a pass cause MAYBE they'll have a heavy part in at least one track of their 10 track albums lol.. we live in a metal society that doesn't fucking care about pushing boundaries anymore, just the same pop shit with low tuned chugs, I would prefer every band to make songs as ambitious as fucking Reptile by Periphery, but that shit doesn't sell

Or like maybe try listening to music outside of the same two subgenres of a subgenre you always listen to?

Your life would improve if you stop thinking you know exactly what bands are thinking without citations or knowing them.

Stop seething.

Guess I'll just give in, fuck it, technical progressive metalcore is dead, maybe it was northlane who spelled the end for the subgenre now that I think about it with Alien, maybe it's not such a bad thing, the subgenre had kinda run its course, theres only so many ways you can incorporate weedly tap riffs before it becomes stale

You know Tundra, if you want more technical progressive metalcore maybe you could join a band and write it yourself

Progcore as it was at the beginning peaked really early, and then bands just wanted to hop on the bandwagon and emulate what bands like Erra and Northlane did from 09-14 but without any of the understanding into what made it good in the first place. Basically, progcore just isn't made as well when it's not one of the big 4 of Erra, old Northlane, Invent Animate, or Novelists

That's just my opinion tho, it's certainly gotten more street cred long after that point in time but it all feels hollow now save for some exceptions. And man, if it's new progcore being made by a newer band in/from this decade? 95% chance it's shallow garbage lol

I love progcore but it's super top heavy
