I wasn’t around for it (I was like 6 lol) but listening to their discog in order is jarring af when it comes to this record. This feels like an extension of Adrenaline-ATF and Saturday Night Wrist feels like a perfect follow up to White Pony.

This album hit pretty hard when it was released, and made a lot more people, Deftones fans. My childhood friend didn't even like this type of music, we go to his house the week it was released, and he goes "You hear this new Deftones album??"
Seeing the CD on his dresser almost made me pass out. There is just something about the mood on this album that scratches the right itch; I never skip a track.

Man, Battle-axe and Deathblow are the two unsung heroes/songs of Deftones’ career.
And while this was my favorite for probably a decade or more after it released (and bumped White Pony down to number 2), I eventually realized they’re both the winner. Literally cannot pick one over the other, they scratch the same but different itches.

Hexagram IS their best opener, and I’m including Feticiera.
Prob top 3 Deftones tracks for me, and one of my favorite songs of all time. Be Quiet and Drive is favorite Deftones song, and possibly favorite song of all time (Lateralus is definitely in that fight for number 1 though).
AND this shit has When Girls Telephone Boys, Anniversary…shit is stacked.
I could never understand people being disappointed by this. Didn’t understand it when it first came out, understand it even less now.
