it was like the third time he did that right after i expressed my vibes so i snapped.
2014 was like the peak year of me listening to neurosis and i barely listened to them since. recently though i seem to have rediscovered my old connection with the their music.
i wont appologize for still enjoying their music because one of their core members turns out to be a piece of shit. ive had my complicated feelings over that two years ago when this shit came to light.

This is the neverending debate about separating the artist from his/her work (which I'm able to do but for some people it seems to take a huge effort), except in this case there are 4 more guys that had nothing to do with their mate being a piece of shit. Even if you are unable to separate Scott Kelly from his work and Neurosis think about the rest of the band, they do not deserve your scorn.

I definitely think it would stop me purposefully getting into new artists where such issues had arisen, but for a band I've been listening to for a long time? Nah. There's no way of retrospectively 'removing' all previous thoughts and memories like that. I still feel the same when I hear a handful of their albums (perhaps a few of the ones I discovered later like GTTR or TEOTS would be less nostalgic, as admittedly I haven't heard them since)

Hawks no one is saying it doesn't matter, of course it does. Whether or not Scott Kelly is a piece of shit (which we have been over 2 years ago and unanimously concluded that he obviously is) is irrelevant to this music. I encourage you to go thru your ratings and not find a high rating for something that means something to you that was created by a terrible person. This newfound vitriol just seems pretty out of place, respectfully.

You may say Varg is crazy and you may be absolutely against his ideas but he never raped or abused anyone that I know of. He and at least another former band mate (Necrobutcher) corroborates the story that the man he murdered planned to kill him (and film it on tape...). Not that I agree with his course of action but from my point of view Varg's crime differs a lot from raping or abusing someone.
As I have stated on numerous occasions I like Varg a lot because of his anti-capitalist, naturalist, sustainable way of life. His odinist pagan stuff doesn't really resound with me and his nazi shit was pretty lame and stupid. In the last years his views seem to have shifted towards some kind of ethno-nationalism (even praising native americans and other foreign cultures), yet he still endorses some disgusting crypto-racist stuff like phrenology. So there are some contradictions there that need revision... He is definitely autistic af tbh. It's been a long time since I read/watched anything by him anyway.
