Yeah, chan. Sucks that it has taken so long, but I'm glad the end is (somewhat) in sight.

It better be nice as fuck though, given all the quality control that went into it

Listening to their older stuff is really making me love this even more, it's all like they were building up to this and I didn't have the context earlier
Like if I saw Endgame without seeing any Marvel movies before

That's a v accurate way to put it tbh

I still think this is their best album
|

Hmm maybe ;] The only mwY albums in concrete Not Their Best territory are A to B and It's All Crazy

If we take this + the EP as one piece, it's #1 for me no question. Otherwise it's a toss up between this & Pale Horses. This band is only getting better man, it's beautiful

holy shit mwY and Pedro are touring together. Gonna have to drive 7+ hrs to nashville for this one
|
| |
Damn, that's dedication (but will be worth it!)
Timely reminder that this album contains the lyric "Servants-of-the-least-high!
Most tortoiseless lives!" and makes it sound entirely convincing

yeah but that line is also coming from the same guy that somehow made the statement “two pounds of barley, six pounds of buckwheat” terrifying
|

Oh damn, that line. Triggered.

Johnny since I know you're staring at all the mwY threads right now, can we talk about the line from dormouse sighs - As symbols on their hands, now stored on foreheads
As a Revelations junkie, and knowing full well how spiritual Weiss is, I read that as a reference to the famed "mark of the beast", as it's implied that it would be worn on the foreheads of the antichrist's followers in the final days as the only way to buy and sell goods
Then it occurred to me about how many people are having electronic devices planted in their hands to use as a debit/credit card and my mind blew up a little
I know I'm reaching but there's something there right, or am I just as crazy as Weiss

Dammit, was just about to go to sleep but you got me
Did a quick google to touch base on the references and found this, which matches your theory v. nicely: https://www.ucg.org/bible-study-tools/bible-questions-and-answers/what-is-the-mark-of-the-beast-talked-about-in-the-book
But also Deuteronomy refers to taking on the Ten Commandments in exactly the same way (verse 8 here: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+6&version=NIV)
The lines immediately before this one nod to Deuteronomy in how they note the commands as 'untied', and the only previous digging I've done into this song also suggests an engagement with that phase of scripture through the theme of living sacrifice in the coda ('power in the blood' etc) that ties in with various comments Aaron made during his visit to Israel (which you've probably seen and have a lot of resonance throughout this album, especially in Dormouse and W&B)
However, there may well be a further point within the Bible and in Dormouse re. the mark of the beast that I'm too sleepy process atm ;] Will give one of my religious friends a prod about it tomorrow

I could possibly help. It's possible that computer chips could be referring to the mark though I personally don't believe, as a light preterist, that the author of Revelation had this day and age in mind, rather, Revelation's primary focus is the first century when Jerusalem would fall under Nero's reign (although there could certainly be a "double fulfilment," I'd dare not rule out it).

It also makes sense when the "power in the blood" lyric proceeds immediately after the "BURNING BOOKS" line in print. It probably has something to do with the abolishment of religion which, again, hints at what happened in both the first century and the possible future, since the "power in the blood" and the lamb is a direct reference to Christ and His followers.

I completely agree with your view fwiw, Luc. I just thought the doomsday/futuristic view was interesting as well, even if a tad sensationalized and warped by modern interpretations of religious texts.

Oh for sure! I've always had a fascination for end-times theories even though the majority of them, especially those found in popular books like the Harbinger, are bogus lol
