If anything was an influence on progressive metal, it was Energetic Disassembly by Watchtower which predates this album. Besides, I'd gladly take albums like No More Color, Master Project Genesis, Dimension Hatross, etc. over this one.

Never tried to listen to jazz tbh, I won't make any comments about it.
I try not to force myself to listen to music that is not my usual cup of coffee, otherwise you would see me shitting on every indie rock/pop thread here (I haven't heard so much of this stuff to form an opinion), and that's very bad ;(
