Damn Pleb. If it wasn't for Burden, I'd give it a 5. And maybe if Porcelain Heart was a bit shorter

I used to prefer Heritage over Watershed, but now they're both on the same level for me.

this was seriously NEVER a problem til watershed and then it grew in heritage. when were opeth ever doing the same thing
What was never a problem? Watershed is one of their less "samey" sounding albums (if that makes sense).
@Jamie, if it's good it's good. Yeah there needs to at least be minor style changes so it's not the exact same thing; but I don't see a problem with very similar albums so long as they are high in quality (although we know you disagree with that statement as far as Opeth goes).
Sometimes it's very good but I just think they could have explored a different direction sooner rather than releasing different variations of their signature sound (broken up by the very dull Damnation), especially since none of the recent incarnations of that sound come close to the likes of MAYH in my opinion. I'm happy that they're moving in a different direction now, otherwise I probably would have started to completely lose interest in new releases from the band.

ppl complaining about their albums being "samey"
Oh right so you're saying people never complained about the lack of variation in their style until they started to change it up? I guess that makes sense.
Not sure why that sounded sarcastic, I'm actually being genuine, I get what you mean even though the change in direction was long overdue for me personally.

So my computer has some problems, which makes me commenting a lot less than I used to 10 days ago. What I see now is that everybody loves commenting about Opeth and expressing their opinions. The same goes for me. But GOD! forgive those who cannot catch up with the commenting, coz there's no way I can tell my opinions about all these statements...
Well, in a few words:
Heritage, I like.
Watershed is enjoyable but formulaic. Love it but no more than 4...Maybe a solid 4.
Hope the new album leaks soon. I can't wait.

Think I'm the only one who completely agrees with JT. We have 7 albums of prog metal Opeth, and I for one am glad they're exploring a new direction and not just retreading old waters.
