Ye wack.
@tranta: I dunno maybe I'm alone here but I can tell if there's merit to something as soon as I listen to it, even if I don't find it instantly accessible. That was the case with Meshuggah, I heard it and went "woah this is intense, I need to hear it a few times to wrap my head around it". Many of the most satisfying bands are like that.

the way it usually works for me is that a friend or sputnik will hype an album or band, and then i'll
chedck and not like it. then someone will keep hyping them and i'll be like "damn gotta check again".
then maybe i like it a little more or love it or still hate it or whatever. i've just had enough
experience initially disliking shit that i went on to love to know to give stuff another listen or
two.

"So I've heard at least a couple people say that it took them a while to get into Meshuggah. My question is, why did you continue to try in get into them if you didn't like them at first? Wouldn't you have too much music to listen to if you tried to like every band you listened to? Or was that at a time when you were young and thus didn't have much else to listen to on your CD player?"
because they're so influential on metal nowadays that they deserve the time to really digest how the songs go. if you find it boring/don't like it then fine it's not your thing. I've seen too many people listen to a song or 2 and just say "meh it's monotonous and sounds the same"...it REALLY doesn't though

those same people giving 2 songs one or two listens give up cuz of influenced bias or poor moods. not giving art time to sink in or learn of its contexts is too common from lazy assholes.

This album's been growing on me quite a bit recently.

Out of curiosity, how does Dick get that bass tone? I know on the record it's 2 different tones combined but it sounds similar live and in the jam video with Thomas (youtube it). It sounds so digital but also so thick.
Ive been checking out his setup best I could and my best guess is that it's some heavy ass strings, amp sims and his bass/the way he plays but the specifics elude me. Any help?

Agree 100% with the review. I wasn't a Meshuggah fan until recently, but I couldn't become one before because I heard not much variety in some of their albums. This one made me a fan. "Do Not Look Down" is my favorite, it's a BEAST track. Very solid album.
