I spent a few hours over the weekend looking at the new build homes my bro is considering in Midlothian (Richmond suburb) for around 600K and definitely concluded I'm never moving to the city in my life unless I'm loaded.

yeah those aren't convenience stores. Do you guys not have small, family owned convenience stores? That's pretty much the only kind we have here other than a few scattered 7/11s

The city is literally ten minutes away.

Where I live there are some foreign ones that are family owned but all the others are chain owned. They are convenience stores regardless of what you want to call them tho.

I generally refer to these gas stations that sell pipes and shirts and little groceries or what not as bodegas, usually owned by Arab and Yemeni people.

It’ll be a Citgo or anything else sometimes. Occasionally they’ll buy into chains, I think. We have one in Hattiesburg where they copied The Simpsons but named it “Qwik-E-Mart” You can look it up; it’s hilarious lol

New York sounds like the bay. the bay is a lot like if sputnik were real life. just with more diversity of skin color/sex, but everyone thinks exactly the same yet has nuanced opinions on things that don't matter like music and wine
|

new york is mostly like that yea
also exorbitantly expensive like the bay
