Marriage is cool if you're a religious person living in a religious country/state, or the person you're married to is religious even tho you're not.

Geez, you guys said a bit since my previous post.
Anyway, uh, Egarran asked about my opinion on marriage; I must say that I like the idea of marriage itself, I like it a lot, actually, but in the modern world it has been a disaster and I understand people who don't want to marriage, I understand them very well. Marriage is supposed to be one of the prettiest things that can happen, but nowadays a lot of the time it becomes a rather ugly thing, sadly. In short: good on paper, bad execution.

I would put it like this:

''Marriage is cool if you're a person living in a country/state and you both want it.''

Eh, I guess. Legal marriage is kind of silly to me though, and that one is the guilty of the many unfortunate things that can happen; a religious marriage is mostly (but not only) symbolic. But hey, if you fuck up the latter you'll get judged by God when you die (and that is assuming Christians got it right), fuck up the other one and you'll get judged by some people in a court while you're still alive.

Love the love flying around here. Despite everything it is fitting in a Beatles thread so I will participate.

(Egarran, can you send me one of those fancy hearts, I've lost it again!)

if either you or your partner filed a divorce then both of you are fucked, the kids are fucked. If you married with a religious person, this person understands the implication of divorce and the stigma surrounding it, so when the relationship turns sour after let's say 5-10 years, the idea of divorce will act as a deterrent. Non religious folks don't get the social implications of it, that's why marriage is pointless unless there's something symbolic to hold on to.

You see, for some non-religious marriages the whole 'marriage' thing is symbolic enough. It's quite the assumption that all non-religious marriages are 'just something fun to do, we'll see where it goes'.

Egarran already mentioned the high rates of divorce though. Like, shit man, If I lived in the US I don't wanna sign a contract - that's a fucking trap. I wish I could live with the person I love without having to get married, but where I'm from its pretty much mandatory. And nor sir, I'm a bisexual who lived in a country where having a religion is mandatory.

I didn't know that kind of stuff was mandatory where you live, Punch. Very interesting.

Alex just ignores the confirmation request of what he said about homosexuality. Why am I surprised.

When was Alex banned? As far as I know he never was for some dumbass reason
