Yeah, that’s an atypical statement, but that’s the beauty of music subjectivity

I'm probably not alone cuz this has a 2.8 and DM has a 3.2

Yea, I dont think that is atypical at all.

I was referring to a song by song comparison, not to an overall album comparison. As a whole I prefer Death Magnetic over this one by a landslide

This album really is saved by some top tier Metallica bangers like King Nothing and The Outlaw Torn.

While this has a massive amount of flaws, it still was made by a band trying to do something. Death Magnetic was Metallica giving up, accepting to be in legacy mode. Living and feeding off their own past, devoid of any ambition. So, while I might enjoy more to listen to DM, I definitely respect this one more.

^ more or less agree. Death Magnetic is cool but most of it feels pretty been there done that without the energy or passion that made the been there good.

Idk to me DM is the band sounding their most interesting and energized post-AJFA. Particularly compared to Re/Load albums where half of these tracks sound like they were made just to have a double album.

Think I more or less like every song, or at least not dislike. Honestly kinda love how they took certain clues from the black album and proceeded to this
