Also I don't think there really needs to be a "logical argument" against anything. It's not rocket science it's music. I think we are overthinking it at this point. People dig what hits their ears right and dont dig what doesn't. Just because you enjoy mdm doesn't make person Y wrong for not digging it. And vice versa.

Intestine Baalism would probably classify as aggressive mdm Demon if you haven't heard

Intestine baalism is a rare case where I love mdm. They kick balls

Melodeath is probably still my favorite genre overall. It literally got me into metal and I will always have a soft spot for it. Having that said, a lot of melodeath bands end up sounding generic and uninspired. But when it shines, it truly shines.

'Intestine Baalism would probably classify as aggressive mdm Demon if you haven't heard'
Noted, cheers.
I completely forgot to rank metalcore, it would certainly be top 5 for me.
And yeah, no-one is saying you can't like whatever the hell you want. I'm not elitist about this, just find it interesting to see how things change over time for me personally. Variety is the spice of life.

> either way, melody good actually
Melody is good and important agreed, I don't think the majority of the hate melodeath gets is because it has melody, lol.
> rec me ultra-aggressive mdm and I will endeavour to have a (slightly more) informed opinion on the subject
Some stuff to look at that I will assume you haven't checked already:
Debut Intestine Baalism, debut Amorphis, debut Maleficarum, Ceremonium second album, Crystal Age if you want tekdef with melody, there's more but my brain is too fried to think of more atm. I don't know if these count as "ultra-aggressive" or "mdm" but its death metal and its got melody lol.

tbh im not sure i can even choose 3 genres since if it is metal and not some mccore/prog infused shit i like a good chunk of all genres, tho black and death are most consistent quality so they end up with higher scores overall
|
| |
Agreed black and death would be in my top 3 metal genres too, nfi what the third would be.
Mccore is a very unfortunate genre.

Since everyone's ranking their worst metal genre, let's start with whatever brand of metal Disturbed has become, followed closely by metalcore and djent. I personally hate power metal as well and find it unlistenable but it isn't offensively bad as metalcore, djent and "generic for the masses metal" are
at the same time I agree with Fluggy's sentiment "its fine to enjoy art without constraints actually. big huggies 🤗"

idk why this is going here, but it amused me and is almost relevant, so here goes...
(this song is playing in the background somewhere, but audible enough to here it pretty clearly)
the wife who's only perception of such things is through the mainstream... says 'oh no, I don't like this - it sounds similar to that music you hear with those horrible machine gun-like drums
Oh, I think you mean blast beats... but this, this is Iron Maiden
