i'm serious tho that ~2 min sax passage feels really mediocre and pointless, like the sax didn't know what it's doing. you defend it by saying it was in the spirit of "improvisation", but then why was it so short and isolated?

it's a pretty jarring departure from the rest of the song where every single part was so meticulously and immaculately crafted to perfection.

The sax section of starless is seriously when the song explodes into better than sex surfing of the cosmos. Wtf, Cyg

indeed it certainly is when the song explodes but i much much prefer the explosive section right after it (that part is basically 2 heavily distorted guitars away from being shoegaze tbh), where the sax takes a backseat. honestly that passage also a misstep in the song bc it's only like 2.5 minutes long when it shoulda been like 4 or 5 or more because it's beyond perfection.

the only misstep of the song is that the outro should be longer like the part from 11:35 to 11:50 is the most beautifully haunting thing ever and i need more of it

no actually that part was perfectly timed. bc the outro of the song symbolizes a person's "moment of death": it's beautiful, exhilarating, and everything slows down, provides a moment of clarity, it's somehow infinitely depressing before dying out for good

The sax is awesome for me, the only moment that can be considered "weak" in Starless for me, is Fripp doing the same chords for like 3 minutes in the middle section

It's not like it is bad, the song is probably one of the most perfect things ever, but if we are looking for its weakest moment it'd be that one for me. All the instruments do a very a good work in that part except for the guitar imo

this is like the best part of the song tho, well 2nd best anyways. honestly that drone rock section could also go for twice as long an i still wouldn't be mad about it
