I agree with you on that in regards to St. Anger but the snare sound on this is like a gun going off and that was definitely down to studio magic and not Lars haha

Probably the most important album in my collection. Got me into heavy music. Before that it was Alice Cooper and Motley Crue which were cool but

This thing was massive back in the day, absolutely bloody massive.
All these sput slags with no context whatsoever thinking people were listening to all the other early 90s metal shite that gets bumped haven’t got a clue.

Absolutely. Proper metal was quite underground before the black album dropped. From then there was a greater acceptance and exposure for metal bands

Oh I remember etching Slayer lyrics into my school desk, and now every one is doing it

Slayer were edgy as hell in the early 90s. Barring the odd nut job in America who was possibly considering shooting up their school nobody else was listening to ‘em.

I first heard them on the Danish state radio. It had a 3 hour youth show every sunday feat. a metal DJ for 20 minutes. So not SUPER edgy, but I definitely thought so.

I kind of get the criticism this album gets, but I didn't for a long time. I just relistened to this maybe a month or so ago and found it quite boring and dull compared to all the previous albums.

I was born in the late 90’s so I wasn’t even a sperm when this album came out. Must’ve been tremendous tho

I was born in the early 90's so I remember only really their load-reload era being played on radio. As a child I would hear songs like ''Until It Sleeps'' all the time on the radio.
