He was a little bit murdered before this came out

I've always liked the clean production on this if only because the definitive versions of half of these songs appear on Live in Leipzig and that already has cruddy audio quality. This is more of a reinterpretation with Atilla singing so I like that these songs have that much more of a distinction

But, and I could be wrong, wasn't this all ready to go before he died?

His spirit could have disturbed the production tho.

Yeah pretty much, at the very least everything had been recorded already, unsure whether it was mixed or mastered at that point though. Hellhammer claimed he was going to redo Varg's bass parts but never did, idk if he was lying the whole time though but if not that might mean it hadn't been mixed at the time.

Didn't he just turn it down in the mix? Probably misremembering.

Edit: nop, misremembering. He didnt touch the bass tracks.

According to Evolution of the Cult, he did say to Euronymous' mother he would remove the bass tracks but he instead just lowered it in the mix

Why would he have turned down the bass in the mix when he claimed he redid it anyways, that doesnt make sense.

He thought it was appropriate that the murderer and victim played on the same album m/ pretty much the most metal thing ever.
