'I think you're forgetting this was supposed to be with Damnation to compliment each other.'
Do you jam them simultaneously? I don't, that would be weird. You could listen to them consecutively as intended, but turning the experience into a near 2 hour slog is not going to enhance my enjoyment of either album. Damnation is superb & this is simply great, listening to one after the other won't change anything.
If only they could somehow take the best elements of the light & dark, in this case the beautiful progressive folk & ugly death metal & amalgamate the positive aspects to create a single experience. Oh wait, they already did that, several times in fact & all those albums are superior to this one.

Plus this album is actually very good on its own. Not half as bad as people make it out to be.

Totally agree! It's a good album for sure. I relistened to it this morning and it was very enjoyable. The only time I've ever listened to both back to back is when I got them on vinyl. I envy the patience.

Yeah man! I liked the t/t, A Fair Judgement and Master's from the get go. Wreath was harder to get into but when it finally clicked it did so hard.
One of my favourite moments on this is when the final seconds of Wreath go into this weird cascade and the t/t kicks in immediately after.

Thrust: I wasn’t actually suggesting you should put them on at the same time just that I don’t buy the ‘complementing’ argument when each album is at least 40+ mins long.

Yeah well I don’t agree that it works, not denying that wasn’t the intention though. I’m not calling them liars.

I think Mike said it was his favourite at that moment. That's not saying too much tbh, but people interpret these things in many, many ways

"The new album is pretty good, kinda just happy doing our own thing now, obviously not as ground breaking and inspired as something like My Arms Your Hearse, or Still Life, but ya know, we're successful, old, and out of touch, so whatever"

but that begs the question: if an artist doesn't feel like their current work is up to snuff then why even do it?
