Finally Free is probably my favourite DT song atm. I love how the charakters change. A perfect closing song.

"I'd take my own life before losing you" / "Feeeeling good this friday afternoooon!"

I read somewhere that James was almost fired in 2002 because of his deteriorated voice and him always wantig to get songwriting credits (and getting them) despite being barely part of the creative process. Maybe they should have fired him. It would probably have increased their quality.

It seems like James isn't too honest in interviews too

Considering a good chunk of the negativity towards Dream Theater is due to LaBrie, that may have been an interesting turn of events.

"Considering a good chuck of the negativity towards Dream Theater is due to LaBrie"

i thought most of it is that they just kinda forgot how to write compelling songs and just noodle on forever

also portnoy lol

maybe thats just me

Na LaBrie was never the problem or a reason for their drop in quality. They just ran into a dead end by losing their creative spark... I imagine it's very difficult to keep up such a high quality level they started on, naturally progressing and evolving in this process. Can't imagine DT without LaBrie considering how much impact his vocals had on me with their classics...

their drop in quality can single handedly be attributed to the lack of Portnoy....he saw it too, they needed a break.....band desperately needs him back

as far as the live show goes, agree to disagree Davil, but LaBrie is the weakest link there......he is awful nowadays

My comment only referred to their studio albums Titan bro, live LaBrie is indeed the weakest link. He is the one single reason I dread showing someone not into DT a current performance of them... So I guess we're on the same boat here. Portnoy leaving the band was indeed a sign they shouldn' t have ignored, he felt the spark was dying.
