I knew someone. He was a father with multiple kids, his funeral had AC/DC set as the music which felt simultaneously fitting and unfitting at the same time. I still sometimes keep contact with one of his daughters who's about my age, she was always nice
sweet jesus it's been 14 years since that happened and i still think about how life would've been if he hadn't gotten in that accident. 40 is too fucking young to go like that

I knew a guy at school who was a bully, and had a small motorbike. I bumped into him outside of school a few times and discovered he was quite a talented artist, and he wanted to be anywhere but at home. Turns out his father was rarely around and his older brother was basically raising him - unfortunately often times with a literal iron fist. I still picture him driving around at night, stalling being in that situation for as long as he could. It ended predictably with a horrendous accident. Probably the teenage incident that made me truly aware of mortality.

If I think about it, most of the people I met in my youth had a story about someone they knew who died in an accident in that space between the end of high school and finishing higher education. Can't really comment on the American experience, and also it seems like young people are more responsible now. But I can think of at least 3 people who were connected to me who died in car or bike accidents

I can see how going through so much shit would leave someone desensitized to material like this, honestly there's probably some alternate universe where this is 5'd to me, but that alt universe might have its site average at like a 2.6 (or even lower) and Jesse might be a stand-up dude in that timeline

Venin do you have to talk about how uncool it makes you feel to like poorly received artists on every page of this thread

lol i'm just talking about how whenever i feel like an artist's reception is unfair my brain tends to cling on to them even further because when everyone else is dumping on them, them seeing that they actually do have some support would go a long way

side note I was looking back a couple hundred pages and found myself for whatever reason thinking Tim Lambesis was worthy of support because something something guitar tuning. what the fuck, that's what people should be mad at me for, not this

I'm not in love, so don't forget it
It's just a silly phase I'm going through
And just because I call you up
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made

I must be so out of touch
I cannot tell what’s real
think I love you all so much
yet need to be told how to feel

I have been shown in the files of the War Department a statement of the Adjutant-General of Massachusetts that you are the mother of five sons who have died gloriously on the field of battle. I feel how weak and fruitless must be any words of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering to you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic they died to save. I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Three new songs were played last night. "When I Say That I Love You", "Cut the Line" and "Death". The audience was specifically asked to not record these songs.

So many bands have been “fucking done” only to come back I’ve lost count. Money is a hell of an incentive.
