think i just don't like retreads lol give me a band who isn't afraid to change shape. that's why i respected this out of the gate bc it is the most different thing for them theyve done which they really needed at that stage. it's just not different enough big picture within the context of their peers sans false meriddy and evidently is a well that will dry fast

I was totally enthralled by this album for like a month and then it fell off completely. Super weird experience. I never come back to this except for Emberglow cause that song just fucking rules

honestly I can't even listen to Meridian and Elysium anymore. Played those bad boys into the ground. Ember is immune cause it's channeling Deftones and I will never not be into that

wish they’d make an LP with the Sun Sleeps ep formula - slightly less vocally driven with the ambient passages and post rock elements sprinkled in

its all about subversion of expectation for me really. there is simply nothing this band has done that sounds like the pinwheel rapid fire false meridian breakdown balanced against those gorgeous pads and the lower clean part so it just feels more exciting than everything else here. everything else i can kinda trace back to something but that shit is fresh

emberglow doesnt sound that much like deftones to me and i am glad tbh lol feels like them trying to figure out their own take on blending all clean singing with an uptempo instrumental. without a whisper is sorta what them doing deftones sounds like to me and that song is kinda whatever i dont really care for it anymore

False Meridian breakdown was certainly a moment. Void Surfacing also made me feel a similar way. Emberglow vox seem very Chino-inspired to me, easily my favourite song they've done

Bingo. New for them sure but the genre is so saturated with this shit it’s hard to love it.

I would love for them to lean into ambience except then I know for a fact they’ll rely too much on Marcus crooning which gets so old. I’d rather them lean more tech To be honest. Not even just leads but like you said false meridian crazy chugs and shit. Maybe even Gojira/Vildhjarta

at least hes not shrieking excruciatingly outside of his range anymore lol for that i am grateful

i think the biggest reason it gets so samey here to me is that like over half of this album is in the same key so they really are just repackaging the same few pitches in a lot of these songs. hell the whole opening like four songs does this lol

there was like a whole year where i couldnt really get into any other progcore other than erra (lack of jesse issue), and then self titled came out and actually opened the door to everything else

Most of the choruses and melodies on here just get old fast so I really have to listen to this album in pieces. I have no issue jamming the instrumental version of it front to back though.

I love being able to hear the guitar more, and the softer bits have way more ambience without vocals
