They aren't in the same order, because it all depends on the day. But they are the same albums. If I had to rank the rest, I would go
Damnation
Watershed
Deliverance
Heritage
Ghost Reveries/Pale Communion
Sorceress
Mind you, Heritage onwards is 4+ territory.

"The Sky Moves Sideways" was my favourite, with Signify not far behind.

Signify has a cool vibe to it, but falls a tad flat at times for me. I would still take it over Stupid Dream any day. That one literally has zero substance to it.
Disconnected, how would you rank Neurosis then?

Have you heard the remasters of the first 2 Neurosis records Pleb? It made a world of difference for me. I can see some people simply having a preference for the later stuff regardless, but they hold up well against a couple of their other releases.

Yeah they're good albums mate, just not really something I hold up to the albums that follow.

When you are in a band that attempts to bridge a gap between death metal, black metal and prog rock/jazz so you kick out the bassist for sounding to jazzy.

And then fully indulge in prog in the later part of your career...
