Or maybe... just maybe... he doesn't want to air this family matter in a public setting and wants to deal with things without the backlash/ support from thousands of fans.

Could be. Or it could be that Jordan saying anything right now would risk coming off antagonistic, and they all genuinely have decided to take this off the Internet for the time being.
We don’t actually know anything right now, no point feeding the drama

look, i feel bad for jordan in a way. but obviously shit has really hit the fan if keith decided to make this all public. a breaking point. perhaps it was the only way for jordan to take it seriously. i know what it's like to set a boundary and for it to be broken constantly.
i just kind of expected more from jordan.

I don't think anyone is at fault because we literally don't know the story. Maybe Jordan never said those things. Maybe Jordan said those things but he himself was stressed or feeling like Keith was distancing himself from the band. Maybe he said those things and he meant it. We literally don't know...

I certainly did not mean "getting sober is a cult". I mean there are certain ways of getting sober and diving into self help can be cult-y. There's this guy Keith Buckley that wrote a song about it.
Anyway, ignoring the actual content of the books he's talking about because I haven't read them:
-"I’ve never read this book, seen this book or even heard of this book but it found me. no known author. just like the Kybalion. strange “coincidence”. these mysteries are of up most impordance!!"
-"only 1 hour in I can confidently recommend it as the only “self help” book you’ll ever need, or at least the first"
-"someone just do me a solid and introduce me to any one of the “Initiates” you might know. I need real help helping real people"
-"I would like to speak to other psychic workers about the Spiritual implications of this unique disease that Jaclyn Buckley suffered from"
To me, all sound a lot like statements that someone in a cult might make and I could understand people being concerned

Actually, I'll admit I'm making assumptions about what "I didn't want to join your stupid cult" anyways is about. I don't see anything definitive from the band and maybe my interpretation is wrong. Still sounds a lot like he's in a cult to me

Keith recently tweeted saying that Underwater Bimbos from Space is a weird song to play live now. He said "playing some of these old songs with new, sober clarity has been a really strange experience. like I dont completely understand what UBFOS is about, nor do I know why I called it that. I do know what is has COME to mean over the years, but it turns out thats not exactly all of it"

And he said "From Parts Unknown now feels like a conversation between who I was then and the person I am now. the perspective has totally shifted. I’m no longer pleading my case- begging to be allowed to be this version of myself- I am giving my young self advice trying to guide him here"

Underwater bimbos has one of their hardest breakdowns so I hope they don’t stop playing it

Idk, still don't get the cult comments. But you're entitled to your opinion.
To me it seems like genuine growth that was caused by some major life changing events... like divorcing the woman he was with basically since high school and getting sober after 20+ years of touring and partying on the road. They're things that will surely change your perspective on life in general. Kinda forces you look in the mirror and decide whether you're happy with the person you see or not. Apparently he wasn't and he's working to be the person he wants to be and that's commendable.
But this is all speculation from someone who's EXTREMELY removed from the real situation/feelings of the people involved... so y'know grain of salt and all that.

Self help is just a really common ideology used by cults and there's a lot of weird self help out there. In tandem with completely changing your lifestyle beyond just sobriety and talking funny...idk it just makes you think, but this is also speculation and conjecture ofc

The book that "found him", "The Urantia Book"... lets just say has a full-blown "counter-book" exploring why it's a cult.
https://rowman.com/ISBN/9781591026228/Urantia-The-Great-Cult-Mystery
And this page from the author of the "only self help book you will ever need" sure doesn't feel weird at all. Not like she gave herself and co-creators special titles or anything and hide lots of what they do behind an exclusive members area.

Because everyone else is doing it: No, I'm not an expert on cults and I am just an observer extremely far removed from these individuals, and frankly, while I've always heard of this band, I only became a fan after Low Teens came out

If he's into Urantia, there's no way he's an atheist. That book is supposedly from celestial beings. It reminds me of Heavens Gate. (Even a hint of Scientology)

“Don’t regret a thing except for the times that I got caught giving in” can’t be an easy thing to yell every night for a sober person
